Kitty Expressions

First Grade Students practice shape and line by drawing silly faced kitties.  We discuss different types of lines: horizontal, vertical, diagonal, zig-zag and curvy.  Then, we talk about expressions that the kitties can have i.e.: sad, happy, excited, confused.  A demonstration  is shown to the students on how to draw a simple kitty with expression.  After the kitties are drawn in pencil they are outlined in sharpie then, a few areas colored in using crayons.  The last step is a watercolor wash using warm or cool colors.
Some students added bows.

Long eyelashes, curved in eyebrows and long whiskers define this kitty.

A wash of warm or cool colors were used in the background.

They could be twins

These show such a mixture of emotion!
